Michael Reilly has been a resident of Montgomery , AL his entire life, most of which has been spent in pursuit of becoming a better artist. He began painting as a toddler, and became serious about his art around age 10. He attended Baldwin Magnet School , as well as CCPAC (now BTW) Magnet School for art, and continued his studies at the University of Texas , Austin . He has been creating works privately for over 15 years, and has maintained several studios in that time..
Michael’s preferred method is mixed media, though he is also proficient with oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoals, pen & ink, graphite, and many other standard visual arts media. His subject matter has been varied and includes figurative, some portraiture, several large scale pieces with location specific scenes and figures, and most recently landscapes. His landscape series has been developed over the past 10 years, and requires very unorthodox processes such as setting the painting on fire, cutting through paint layers, and mixing conventional media with industrial media. The result of this unique process is paintings that have tremendous depth and layers of detail, while conveying a very organic construction.
Michael has limited works available, and is open to taking commissions and contracted projects.
