In my work I create surreal and fantastical landscapes to comment on my split Indian American heritage.

When the Mumbai terrorist attack occurred I was devastated by the impact the event had on the safety of my family in Mumbai. This disastrous event initiated contact between my family and me in India and first inspired me to do a body of work that began to describe the pain of separation. After collecting interviews from Indian nationals and family members, I appropriated the silhouettes of landmarks to create a series of stencil monotypes. I reconcile my dissociation and attempt to internalize event that are happening a 17-hour plane journey away.
